Why I Chose STEM

Almost eleven years ago my husband opened his own company providing environmental consulting, after a couple of years I looked at how much money he was paying labs in order to have fungi samples analyzed I thought huh I could do that myself. I went and got training in Chicago to read the samples and then started looking into nationwide accreditation. In order to have an accreditation from the American Industrial Hygiene Association, we have to have a bachelor's degree in biology. This is what started my trip down the road to get my Bachelor's in Biology. I have four kids, so I started slowly just getting some prerequisites done through the community college. Before I knew it I had enough credits to graduate the community college and transfer over to ASU West campus. This is my second semester at ASU and I am double majoring in Biology and Environmental Science.  Even though I have the end goal in mind I have to say that I really do love the science aspect of STEM.
